8th-Dec-2009 02:57 pm - Coffee and Moving Update
brigid
I woke up this morning to Devon getting ready to go to work, and coffee already made. What a wonderful way to start the day.

I just finished packing some more things up. Really the only things that I can pack are. The rest is going to have to wait until right before we leave.

Speaking of leaving, we are going to be heading out a day early. That means we are now driving down Mon the 28th. I am going to move our last packing day and going away party to Sun the 27th.
2nd-Dec-2009 01:27 am - Date Night and Snark
After Devon and I donated some books to the library, and donated some clothes, we went out for a date night. We went to dinner at Panera and went to see New Moon. Tuesday nights are $5.25 at the hadley theaters in case my dear friends didn't know.

Any way, Dinner was good. Apparently tonight was the Snark night for New Moon. Now I don't mean that just Devon and I were making fun of the HORRIBLE dialogue (the person in charge of the screen play should be shot). "I don't want you to come" ...*pause*...Devon and I snicker...and so does the rest of the theater. It was almost like a tame Rocky audience was mixed with the audience tonight. Through out the theater there was laughing, joking, calling things out at the screen, and comments of...mmmm nice ass.

So with that said I did find my self enjoying the movie. The cinematography was MUCH better in this movie. koudos to the director. That being said I think all of the actors did a fantastic job with the crappy dialogue they were handed. That is everyone except for Kristen Stewart. She really needs to learn that looking depressed does not mean that she should look constipated. The makeup team was also much better, and I think gave a better look to the vampires. The only thing I liked about the script was that they were able to cut out the extra things that were not needed, but still keep in all of the important scenes from the book. It also ended where I thought it should have, and not kept going like the book did.

I find it odd that I watch the first movie when I am sad about love, but I will buy new moon to watch when I want to laugh. Odd seeing as the second book/movie are about loss and the first book/movie about discovering love, but there it is.

So who knew that renting a truck would be so fucking expensive? I certainly didn't. To rent a truck it would cost about $950, which is just not do able.

So, plan B. Kate is going to drive up with her truck, and we will both drive back down with both of our vehicles, as well as a friend who has offered to drive his car down as well. Everything must fit into the three vehicles. This means that absolutely no furniture is coming with us. Some things will be stored at my moms (prob kitchen items).

Things to go:

Webber style grill-$15
Small brown ottoman with internal storage space-$15 (SOLD)
DVD rack-$10 (SOLD)
Kitchen Table w/ leaf insert-$20
2 white cubby's w/ 3 cubby's: $5/per

I'm pretty sure that most of my friends out there do not know that my Mother and I used to bake for Restaurant we both worked at. Every week my mother would make 2 death by chocolate cakes and a blueberry swirl cheesecake. If my mother was too busy that week, I would make them and no one would know the difference. That being said I got pretty fecking good at making cheesecake. Apparently 7 years later I have completely forgotten what I used to know.

See, the secret to a good cheesecake is all in the crust. A good graham cracker crust is key. I used to make it with the best of them. Well, I screwed up royally. I made my crust this time with ginger snaps, pecans, and butter. Easy right? I popped it in the oven to crisp up a bit, and made the filling part. Well apparently I did not leave the crust in the oven long enough, because when I put the filling in, it completely separated and filled in with the filling. Ballocks. I didn't have enough fixings left to start over, so I plugged along.

So all of you partaking in my sub par Ginger Cheesecake tomorrow, I hope it at least tastes good. This is the first time I've made it, but the filling tasted good, so if nothing else goes wrong *knocks on wood* it will be tasty but not pretty.
25th-Nov-2009 12:12 am - Packing Night
brigid
First Tuesday packing night complete. The room in question was Devon's work room upstairs in our spare bedroom. 98% of our books are packed, all the "fancy" and costuming clothes are packed away as well. The only things not packed are the things that absolutely can not be put away yet (tools and such). Now the things still in the room are things we need to throw out. I'd say the room is about 80% finished. Good work for the first night.

Does anyone want 2 full size book shelves and one half book shelf? We are not going to bring them with us.
24th-Nov-2009 02:12 am - oh my geek
So, is anyone else a fan of house? Did anyone else notice that when house showed up at the 80's dance he was dressed in a similar outfit to one he wore in Black Adder? Which he was in in the 80's.

Ok maybe I'm over thinking this, but if it was intentional thumbs up to whoever put that little egg in.

Devon and I are going to dedicate Tuesdays to packing until we leave. If people want to come over after work and help us pack up, or hang out and talk while we pack, that would be awesome. Dinner will be available to anyone who wants to help out.

We have decided to shoot for driving on the Tuesday the 29th. We are going to have a "moving party/going away party" on Mon the 28th. We are going to start loading the truck as early as we can to hopefully get it all done. Whoever can make it on a Monday is more then welcome to come over around 10am. I want to get an early start. During the day pizza and soda, that night we are going to order food, or go out for food for a going away party. I am going to have my last day be the week of Christmas, so anyone who wants to come over the Sat and or Sunday before we leave to help us finalize packing stuff would be great. We will have some things that need to get packed up that weekend.

Also, whatever is left in our pantry or refrigerator will need to go to a good home.

brigid
Well, Before taking things to good will Devon and I figured we could see if any one would want to buy off of us some "gently used" items we have. I shall be updating with new things for purchase as we go along. This will help us not bring so much, as well as help pay for things we don't have money for (ie final bills).

Window air conditioner $20: It is loud, but gets the job done.

Black dress $10: I haven't worn it because I gained weight after buying, and then my boobs got too big for it. Size 16. Very cute, size runs a bit small, but would be a great addition to any SciFi wardrobe. I was planning on using it as a possible costume piece.

Wire Rack $5: We use it in the bath room for towels. Yay storage items
