6th-Feb-2010 12:22 am - beyond shocked

Devon and I went to see Avatar this evening, and all I can say is I am blown away. I have NEVER wanted to see a movie again, while still watching it and the movie hasn't even ended yet. Just WOW. It was beautiful. The actors were fantastic. Last but not least, the idea of Bio-Punk (a concept that got tossed around last year at arisia) has gone main stream. That makes this medical geek girls heart go *squee*.

The only thing I can't decide on is if it is the best Science Fiction movie I have ever seen, or the best movie I have ever seen.

I have a line on some unprocessed alpaca wool that I would have to card and spin my self. Would any one be interested in some either before or after I make it into yarn?
4th-Feb-2010 12:56 pm - January Update
brigid
Hello Friends! I'm sorry I have been so distant lately. Honestly there hasn't been much to tell. Here is a quick update from January.

It didn't suck! For those of you who have known me for years know that for some reason January always seems to suck for me. Everything that can go wrong will go wrong does. But this year there was minimal January Suckage, and that is very very happy making.

Devon has a crappy job that pays shitty, but its a job! We have a roof over our heads, a comfortable place to sleep, and food in our tummy's. I couldn't ask for more at this particular moment in time.

I have been getting some kind of exercise every day even if it is just walking the dog. Most days I am out side working on improving my poi skills. Right now I'm working the most on keeping my plains straight and not hitting my self. I get better bit by bit. (Megan, this is mostly how I am keeping my stress level down)

Other then that Katie and I have been cooking everyday, cleaning the house bit by bit, and doing a bunch of knitting. I finished 2 projects in January and I am very proud of my self for this.

Hello friends! I still live despite my lack of on line communication. I am enjoying South Carolina more then I thought I was going to. The weather is fantastic, and has been for the last few days. We have been sunny and around 65-70 degrees. There has even been work out in the back yard and garden. Lots of time has been spent getting the house livable for 5 people (Michael has a 10 yr old daughter who lives here half the time.)

Much of the re-aranging has to be done around the lack of storage in the Master Bed Room closet. The master bathroom in Kate and Michaels room had to be torn up, as well as the closet, due to their water heater dieing about 6 months ago, and they are just getting to fixing it now. Lots of house hold projects are being finished, and we can even see floor in most of the rooms in the house now.

I have decided to take a much needed sabbatical from work all together. The seizures that plagued me for much of 2 years have re-surfaced due to the move and financial stress. Also, out of the 4 adults in the house, only the Men have legal licenses. So until either Kate or I get ours fixed, no work for me. Oddly enough I'm not complaining. Devon went to a temp agency, and was hired by them on the spot. He got his first work assignment this week, and started on Monday. He is pretty much there until they either hire him, or the agency calls him and says he doesn't need to go in any more.

Kate and I have gotten our house wife on, and have been busy cleaning and cooking. Yesterday it was home made potpie and 4 loaves of fresh baked bread. Kate is very much down with self sufficiency, and I'm getting into it. Soon we will order chickens, ducks, and turkeys to join the one duck they already have.

I have been quite sick for the last few days and wanted to get some ice cream to sooth my throat. On our little outting today we decided to stop at a local chain called Marble Slab. Lights were on, the door stuck a bit, and we went in. No on was there, no ice cream was in the cases, and when we called to the back no one came out. We went back out side, and asked the neighboring shop if they were closed. They said they were not, and had been open just the other day. So, we called the local sheriff's office to let them know what happend, and to have them send someone in case we tripped the alarm. We also called the catering number on the buisness to see if perhaps an employee decided to leave and did not lock up the store.

Around the time the sheriff showed up, an employee came to inform us that the store had closed all three of their local locations, and that the door must not have locked properly. Sheriff showed up, and cleared the building and let us leave.

Life is always an adventure.

Well first of all thank you to all the friends who wished us well, and helped us out with moving (if only to tell me its ok when my head was blown up and unable to articulate what I needed). Packing, and getting everything in the cars sucked ass. It took way longer then it should have.

When all was said and done we had only gotten 3 hours of sleep. We got on the Road around 8 am, and got down here at around 3 am Tuesday morning. It shouldn't have taken us that long to get here, except we had to keep making frequent stops for the drivers. Except for only getting 3 hours of sleep, the trip was mostly uneventful. Weather got bad around Virginia when we had a snow storm to go through. Never every again will we take this trip on so little sleep.

Today we spent sight seeing and eating. Tomorrow Devon and I will help Katie with rearanging the house, and getting a storage unit.

24th-Dec-2009 07:29 pm - hair cut
brigid
I got my hair cut today. Like, wicked fucking short. Yep, its cheek level. Pictures shall be posted to my facebook when I get a chance (stop being lazy). I'm on the fence about this hair cut. Its the first day, so of course I am playing with it, and trying to find the best possible way to style it, not sure if curly or straight looks better.

Oh well, happy holidays everyone

Have you seen my motivation? I used to have it in droves. Some how I seem to have miss placed it. Did it run away? Perhaps I should try and make up flyers and see if anyone returns it to me. Unfortunately, that also requires motivation. *head desk* I think I'm screwed.
21st-Dec-2009 01:02 am - Full of Awesome
This weekend actually turned out pretty great, even with all the running around.

Fri night - The play wright in New Haven, great spot. Got to dance w/ Devon
Sat- Fantastic tarot reading. work. Ian's bday party
Sun- Finally get to sleep in, coffee @ b&n, dinner at Red Robin for my little sisters 18th bday

I feel better then I have in ages. Then again I just realized devon and I are moving in one week. I don't feel like my house is nearly as packed as it could be. I feel like I can breath better then I have in weeks, months even. I'm finally starting to see this move as a wonderful adventure full of possibilities instead of a necessary evil.
